A Letter from Christ

Get Yourself Focused
I’ve often wondered what I would say to Christ in a letter or an e-mail, if I could. I also have wondered what He would say to me in return. Seeing a personal message in writing from Him would be an amazing experience. In 2 Corinthians, Paul tells us that Christ already has sent a letter to the whole entire world. There’s a twist, though - it’s not to us - it IS us. Each of us carries His message to others through the Holy Spirit. Now that’s beyond amazing.
Read 2 Corinthians 3:1-6
My grandparents on my mom’s side lived in another town when I was younger and I didn’t get to see them very often, so we wrote letters back and forth to each other. I would write one week and they would write the next - kind of like a conversation back and forth. Of course, my son writes to his grandparents via e-mail and I talk to my closest friends through texting most of the time, now. The method of communication with people you care about has certainly changed, but the meaning is still the same.
What if you were to get a letter - or an email or an instant message - from Jesus. What do you think He would say? What would you say back? Would you feel like you had to be all formal and say “To His most high and glorious King Jesus”? Me either. He’s not really like that, is He? Would you be all casual and say “Hey J, what’s up?”
In 2 Corinthians, the apostle Paul talks about a letter from Christ - a real one. Here’s what he says. [Read 2 Corinthians 3:2-3] Guess what? Christ did send a letter to all of the world and He continues to send them regularly. The letter is us! In order to communicate who He is and what He is about, He sent us to go out into the world and show everyone.
When people know we are Christians, they look at us as an example of what Christianity is about, right? If they see us doing good things, they think highly of Christ and His message. If they see us doing bad things, they don’t have a very good impression of Christ and what He is all about. We don’t need a letter of recommendation when we go new places where people don’t know us. All we need is to behave like a Christian. We don’t have to impress anyone that we are great or that we know what we are doing. We just need to behave like a Christian and the power of the Holy Spirit will work through us. We are living letters from Christ.
Let Us Pray…
Jesus, how wonderful that you care so much for each of us, that you communicate to the whole world through us. Thank you for trusting us, to share your message with others and help them to build a relationship with You. In your name we pray, Amen.
